There are so many reasons to love each of our adoptable humpbacks, but what we love most about Crystal is that he forges his own path. Being the first known calf of the most famous humpback whale, Salt, we thought Crystal would follow right in his mom’s footsteps…fluke strokes?
Over the years, Crystal has often proven us wrong by exploring new feeding areas and taking off on his own for years at a time. This contrasts his mom who has been seen on Stellwagen Bank every year except one since the mid-1970’s. We appreciate that Crystal always keeps us guessing and makes his own way in the world.
