Still In The Mood For a Summer Barbeque-ing?

Still In The Mood For a Summer Barbeque-ing?

Picture this: warm sunshine, the aroma of sizzling meats wafting through the air, and the sound of laughter of special people filling the backyard. It’s not heaven, but this is a backyard barbeque experience you don’t want to miss while summer is still on!

Grilling outdoors saves you from kitchen cleaning but there’s a lot to do in cleaning up. And more to do when you are just preparing for it! As always said: regular cleaning will save you from a one-time big-time cleaning. So make sure to clean your grill before and after cooking so that your grill grates are free of food debris and grease. You don’t want to eat crumbs from the last meal!

And here’s how to clean a grill properly.

  1. Make sure the grill is completely cool before you start cleaning to avoid burns.
  2. Gather your grill brush, dish soap, water, a sponge or cloth, and possibly some baking soda or specialized grill cleaner.
  3. Take out the cooking grates and soak them in warm, soapy water for about 15-30 minutes. This helps to loosen any burnt-on residue.
  4. After soaking, use a grill brush to scrub the grates thoroughly. You may need to use some elbow grease to remove stubborn residue.
  5. Wipe down the inside of the grill with a sponge or cloth dipped in warm, soapy water. Pay special attention to the burners and any other areas with built-up grease or food residue.
  6.  If your grill has grease trays or drip pans, remove them and empty any accumulated grease.
  7.  If your grill has burner tubes, use a wire brush to clean them out and ensure proper gas flow.
  8. Don’t forget to wipe down the exterior of the grill with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or grease buildup.
  9. Once everything is clean, rinse the grates and any other removable parts with clean water and allow them to air dry completely.
  10. Once everything is dry, reassemble the grill and store it in a dry place to prevent rust.

As the sun begins to set and the fireflies come out, the barbecue winds down. Bellies full and hearts happy, guests bid farewell with promises to do it all again soon. And as the last embers of the grill fade away, memories of another perfect backyard barbecue are made to cherish until the next time.
